How sports psychotherapy can help you

Sports psychotherapy is aimed at supporting sportspeople to be at peace with themselves, enabling them to perform better or deal with blocks to performance. With training and experience within sport, my non-judgemental approach has been particularly supportive to clients struggling with self-esteem, those who have internalised critical thoughts, and also people who are battling with guilt and shame related to events from their present or past.

I also provide support for individuals dealing with planned or unplanned retirement from their sport, and with the impact this can have on their mental health, identity, and sense of purpose. For many sportspeople, readjusting to life after sport is one of the greatest challenges of their careers.

As a psychotherapist and counsellor in Shropshire, and a former sportsperson, I am well aware that dealing with current and historical issues and challenges can be hard enough. However being in sport can often mean there is added pressure of doing so in the public eye or under scrutiny of others. Find out more about my sports psychotherapy services here.

TESTIMONIALS

I have been supported and motivated...

Lissa had eased my doubts and even though it was hard for me to accept my flaws I found it easy to communicate them to her, listening as I speak really assessing the way I feel so we can dig deeper to find the route of the issues. I can honestly say I have been supported and motivated to develop and my life has changed for the better - We had done activities and homework which doesn't take too much time but really puts things into perspective and made me discover coping skills which helped too. Lissa has assured me that whenever I need her, she will be there and she will always welcome me back with open arms, I am very appreciative and will always be grateful. Thank you. S   |     |
